Oh, I should have mentioned, the exact form depends on how many
people are being bidden good bye, and of what gender(s). 'vel'
doesn't change, but the verb would be 'far' addressing just one
person, but 'farið' if addressing two or more.
'heil', addressing one female, or mixed group
'heill', addressing one male
'heilir', multiple males
'heilar', multiple females
Talking to one person, "fare you well" is 'far þú vel'. To two
people 'farið þit vel'. To more than two 'farið þér vel' or 'farið
ér vel'.
