Yes, you´ve virtually got this... hirðina is the retinue, entourage, courtiers - call them what you will - accusative singular

fagrliga búna is beautifully attired, dressed - agreeing with hirðina

þá þorði hann eigi at láta sjá sik.
then he dared not allow (them) to see him.
Yes, exactly. Or if you want to reflect the reflexive case, you might say "then he dared not allow himself to be seen".

sem siðr er til Rúmferla,

as custom was on the Rome pilgrimage,

meðan þeir hafa eigi kastat staf ok skreppu.
when they had not cast staff and sack - - I didn’t understand the last bit here.

Well, you´ve still managed to get it right basically even so :-)

A "skreppa" is what we call a "scrip" in English which is a little leather pouch attached to your belt which I believe was originally largely used by monks but by certainly by Tudor times it was more widely used - I suppose it's the modern day equivalent to a purse or bum-bag. The staff (walking stick) and scrip were symbolic of a pilgrim's status.
