Hi, Sarah and Grace.
You were wondering about this:
"sýnisk honum nakkvat eptir,
sem ármaðrinn mælti fyrir honum"
We seem to have a phrasal verb: 'sýnask eptir'.
This was actually something I didn't recognize
so I went to the dictionaries. Zoëga's dictionary
didn't have it but my Icelandic dictionary,
Íslensk orðabók [Menningarsjóðs], second edition,
does have it. The greatly expanded third edition
does not have it (I never trusted that thing).
It does mean what you think it means, something like:
"it seems to him that the steward had a point"
Kveðja,
Haukur
