Yes, I like it!  I don´t think "made his way" takes us any further away from the ON verb than "went on his way", it´s just a bit more purposeful in English.

Yes!  I like that.  Of course, the verb isn't literally "to make", but "made his way" is much better than trying to make the English say "went (on) his way, or "continued his journey" that I was trying to do.  What do you think, Sarah?
