Hi,

I'm one of the moderators of this list, which as some of you may know
is actively moderated in an attempt to keep it at least somewhat on topic.

I've got several messages sitting in the mod-trap right now, on the subject
of runes and rune books.

This is on topic only in so far as it discusses runes as a system of writing.
Mystical and spiritual meanings should be discussed on a list devoted
to mystical and spiritual matters, or a general Asatru list. Likewise
books devoted to such subjects.

Alternatively, if people really want to talk about mystical meanings of runes,
any subject whatsoever is on topic, provided you post in a Scandinavian
language. (We'd prefer Old Norse, but we'll accept just about anything.)
That way your message counts as language practice, and is automatically
suited to the purpose of this list, which is language study.

While Ralph Blum's book does list the Elder Futhark runes, that's about
all the information he has about them as a writing system. Everything else
is about divinatory and mystical meanings.

The rune poems are on topic, if people want to discuss such things as
translating the Old Icelandic Rune poem, just as similar discussion of
any other Old Icelandic/Norse text is always on topic.
