Heill Haukur,

Here’s my week 6 attempt.  I made an effort this week to spend extra time examining the grammar of each word in this because I thought it would be helpful for me in improving my knowledge of grammar.  It’s a bit long so I didn’t know if you would have time to go over it so I have included the translation only, first, then the grammar analysis second in case you do have time to review it (for which I would be very grateful if you do.)

Nú litlu síðar kømr Sigurðr í búðina til bróður síns ok mælti: "Tak þú nú silfrit, nú er samit kaupit."

Now a little later comes Sigurðr into the booth theirs and said,  “Take you now the silver,  now is same the bargain.”

Hann svarar: "Ek fekk þér silfrit skömmu."

He answers: “I got you the silver recently.”

"Nei", segir Sigurðr; "ek hefi ekki á því tekit."

No , says Sigurðr; “I have not from it taken.”

Nú þræta þeir um þetta.

Now argued they over it.

Eptir þat segja þeir konungi til.

After that say they to (the) king  about (it).

Konungr skilr nú ok aðrir menn at þeir eru stolnir fénu.

(The) king deduces now, and other men, that theirs is stolen, money.

Nú leggr konungr farbann svá at engi skip skulu sigla burt svá búit.

Now lays (the) king a prohibition so that no ship shall sail away in these circumstances.

Þetta þótti mörgum manni vanhagr mikill, sem var, at sitja um þat fram er markaðrinn stóð.

This seemed to many men a misconduct great as was to sit during that, beyond when the market stood.

Idiomatic: This seemed to many men a great misconduct; to sit there beyond when the market stood.

Þá áttu Norðmenn stefnu sín á milli um ráðagjörðir.

Then held (the) Norwegians a meeting between them about plans (to make).

Þrándr var á þeiri stefnu ok mælti svá:

Thrandr was at this meeting and spoke so:

"Hér eru menn mjök ráðlausir."

Here are men much without counsel.

Þeir spyrja hann:

They ask him:

"Kanntu hér ráð til?"

“Know (you) how to here proceed to?”

"Svá er víst", segir hann.

“So is to be sure,” says he.

"Lát fram þá þína ráðagjörð.", sögðu þeir.

“Allow forward then your plan.”  said they.

"Eigi mun þat kauplaust.", segir hann.

“Not shall (I) without payment.” says he.

Þeir spyrja hvat er hann mælir til. Hann svarar:

They ask what that he demands as? He answers:

Idiomatic: That ask what it is that he demands? He says:

"Hverr yðvarr skal fá mér eyri silfrs", segir hann.

“Each of you shall hand over to me an ounce of silver,” says he.

Þeir kváðu þat mikit en þat varð kaup þeira at hverr maðr fekk honum hálfan eyri þá í hönd en annan hálfan ef þetta yrði framgengt.

They cried out (at) that greatly but that became (the) bargain, such that which he got to him half an ounce (of silver) then into (his) hand but a second half if this came to be successful.
