My question then is, for those who have English as mother language:
Is it wrong to say "I saw her stand there" in English?

My girlfriend Liz, who grew up in California, says that it is a perfectly good sentence.  It emphasis the fact that she is standing (as opposed to lying, sitting etc.), whereas "I saw her standing there" puts the emphasis on seeing  h e r.
