Greetings folks,

I browsed through the archives and found a few mails which could be a bit "introductionary", but in general it doesn't seem to be common practice, but I thought that I would introduce myself anyway, as fairly new to the list.

My name is Emma and I am from the southernmost part of Sweden, i.e. the former kingdom of Scaniæ (first claimed in the 4th century, by King Alaric, the first 'Rex Scaniæ').
I'm an International Baccalaureate student in Malmö (which basically means I chose six subjects of my own and study them, along with a seventh class, known as Theory of Knowledge), which basically takes up most of my time, but I like to spend the extra spare time doing Indo-European (mainly Celtic) studies, which I have been doing for a couple of years. I'm very interested in history, theology and linguistics (particularly Indo-European, still), and wish to pursue a career in those lines.

That pretty much sums up myself. It's nice to be on the list. I have a question for the lot of you, though; a very general question that requires no knowledge of Old Norse whatsoever (or extremely little): why are you interested in Old Norse?

Thank you kindly,
E P Oxenby
