There are two connected things.
a) What is contained in Tolkappiyam and
b) What is the evidence from Tolkappiyam itself for a). This is supporting data.

On a) Ravi was informed that Pavanar found the verse in Tolkappiyam which says that Tamil words cannot begin with "". He understands this but you do not.

The data from Tolkappiyam was provided as evidence for the contained rule that no words in Tolkappiyam begin with letter "". In other words the data supports the theory.

Hope this helps.
