In long-range etymologies, 'bear' is related to other "dog-like" carnivores such as martens, otters, badgers, etc. This explains why e.g. Germanic 'bear' is related to NEC 'dog', and IE 'bear' is related to NEC 'marten; otter'.
However, 'boar' belongs to a different semantic field, that is, ungulates (i.e. hoofed animals) such as deers, goats, cows and even horses. See for example the P-Altaic root
*béjo 'an ungulate animal'.
