I wasn't satisfied with the explanations of the origins of 'kludge' I found in
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kludge
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/kludge#Etymology
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/kluge#Etymology
so I added my own etymological one.

Jysk klyt may be a backformation from the Low German diminutive klütje (my main suspect for the source of 'kludge'), cf klytgen, klytchen at Åbenrå (German Apenrade, locally Affenra:)

cf. also kluntet "clumsy" etc

in one the installments of

commented on the Swedish word
http://sv.wiktionary.org/wiki/strul ~ "hassle"
that this originally dialect word entered standard Swedish with the rising wages making DIY necessary, since it signifies the type of hassle doing things yourself entails.
The Danish equivalent bøvl entered the standard language from Jysk at about the same time.
