Is secure the usual etymology of name Thale:s (thale:t-) from thal- "to blossom, to sprout"? Is this Greek meaning plausible or could we search for a Pre-Greek or Asiatic better explanation? From semitic *thalat- "three", maybe? From *thale-wat- *thala-wat?
