What's the most plausible origin for Portuguese ca'gado and Spanish gala'pago, both meaning "terrapin, earth tortoise, testudo". It was sugested a Pre-Roman source *calappacu. In Catalan, galapec and galapet mean "toad".

I've seen it linked to Spanish carapacho and to cala words supposedly meaning "enclosure, redoubt, house" e.g. chalet, caleta, etc.
As you know, Spanish sometimes lambdacizes where Portuguese rhotacizes but here there's a mix-up
