The concept of phonetic similarity is dubious as a method.
In the case of Salish,
some languages have undergone a change : labial > velar
hence men is cognate with Nen "stone, mountain"
Score m = 0 and N = 9
On the basis of this method,
cognates have to be dismissed as non similar words.
