<temno:> is Attic, as opposed to Doric <tamno:> (the /e/ seems to be
analogical, after the aorist). Verb roots of this structure (*demh2-,
*k^emh2-) often get their *m restored in nasal presents in Gk. and Skt.
(cf. <dámne:mi> and <dama:yá->, with two different remodellings of
*dm.nah2-, <kánmo:> and <s'amnis.e>). My personal hypothesis is that the
3pl. allomorph of the stem was vocalised *tmn.h1-enti > *tman-V-, and
that the type of tamn- resulted from some complex contamination of
*tman- with *tan-.
