Well, couple of people accepting does not amount to much, especially by people like Mallory, who is being questioned nowadays.

I don;t know what you mean by hit and run? I did present my concepts, I have followed up a referenced post (about half an hour or so) and I am willing to explain more.

What I can not understand is you are not actually questioning my theory at all. You have not come to that , as did n't Piotr or scott.

All of you are   questioning the "mainstream" theories which I have quoted. You are questioning Mcdonnell et al and not  Kishore patnaik.

May be you have a theory your self. based on your singular hero Dumezil?

Mallory who wrote a couple of reference books describes his theories.
People with some credentials in the field (IE or Compared mythology) agree.
I could add Bernard Sergent.

In fact, Piotr might have commented on this earlier in the thread.
He is particularly fond of Mitra and tried to show, if I am not wrong," that
" how, from Vedic India to Ireland from Caucasia to Rome, and from Iran to
Old Germany, the sovereign gods and heroes always appear in couples"
I don;t know how this was taken by the scholar world, but frankly it falls
flat on its nose - the pair concept belongs to later "old Vedics" - Varuna
appeared solo first, then he took up Mitra along him, as the Lord of Night
and slowly, this has changed to Varuna reigning darkness (see how he is
compared to Moon) and Mitra to Sun(in fact, one of the names of Sun has come
to be Mitra).

No,
I think you completely fail to understand the _structural_ pattern of IE
gods and deities.
Your "hit and run" approach is absurd and can only lead to a conceptual
monster.
