No. When I agree with scores of "main stream" authors - Macdonell, Wilkins,
Bryant or Alfred Hillebrandt. why not with Dumezil?
In fact, his thoughts seem to be not accepted by some mainstream authors.
Any way, I can not make any comments about him since I have not read him.

============
Dumezil's work has always been disparaged by people who indulge in what I
will call "particularist" theories.
His claim that most of the early "history" of Rome boils down to no history
at all was an outrage to "classical" Latinists, who had created a model of
synoecism between different "people".
He is also highly unpalatable to all the naturalist theories, and all kinds
of preconceived theories. etc.
Dumezil is also a very strong antidote to the OIT fancies,
and your claim Varuna is not IE crashes on the groundwork of his theory.
In fact, there is no alternative to Dumezil's work : you got that or
nothing.
I've never seen anything on IE religion that even starts to compare with
Dumezil's theory.
