You don't need to be sorry,
you just completely mis-understood me,
I was stating that very often, one can find _one_ language in a whole family
that is the only language of that family to display a cognate to another
family when all the other languages of that family display something else
instead.
This is what I had in mind when I spoke of counter-examples.
