i think you're right Brian

may be root Ner- means like : to spring (like water)

but tribal name Nerviens = Neruiens

connecting with Ner(t)- : virile/man > Power/Strength

Middel Welsh Ner- : Hero
Grec Aner : Man

Latin Neriosus/Nero

Osque Nerum

Sanskrit Nar- : Man/Warrior and Sūnárah : Vigorous

Albanish Njerí : Man

But Ner- : Under exist but non -apropriate

German meaning: `unten'

Derivatives: ner-tero- `unterer'

Material: Gr. nšrteroj `unterer, tieferer, unterirdischer' (durch Kreuzung mit œneroi `die Unterirdischen', s. S. 312 *en `in', auch ™nšrteroj); nšrqe(n) (und wieder œnerqe(n), dor. „ol. œnerqa) `von unten'; neirÒj `der Unterste' (*neri¸o-); osk. nertrak `a sinistra', umbr. nertru `sinistro' (= nšrteroj); tiefstufig aisl. nor?r n. `Norden', ags. nor?erra `mehr n£rdlich', ahd. nordr¡ni `n£rdlich'(Norden ist bei der Richtung des Betenden nach Osten = links);

    m£gliche Verwandtschaft von n-er- mit *n-ei- `nieder' (S. 312).
