I don't know or care myself, ultimately, if there's any
advantage to diversity in and of itself. Though surely
it's an advantage to some persons and their ends, while
a disadvantage to others.
Diversity is, rather, merely an inescapable result and
condition of an environment that protects the freedom
of the individual, for when there are ten perfectly free
individuals, there may be as many as ten different paths
chosen to follow.
It's _freedom_ that's being argued for, with diversity
merely a natural product thereof.
Remember freedom, Patrick? It's the thing we Americans
go around bragging makes our country better than everyone
else's.
