Some of my German ancestors were Lutheran but others
were not, and Huguenots were Calvinists. From what I
gather, the limited toleration applied only to
Lutherans. Protestants from Alsace began arriving to
America around 1700 and in great numbers. There was a
settlement called Germanna in Virginia where Alsatians
settled c. 1722 after a generation in England and
Ireland. Many more settled in PA, Others settled in NC
--New Bern.
