Some of the members are very particular about spellings and semantics. They are sleeping over the week end , I guess.

It is "Let us start at the starting" and not "Let us start at the staring"

I suppose all beloved moderators will kindly remind us that this is not
exactly the place for this kind of discussion.
But I suppose the European countries have been competing against one another
for a very long time.
And so do their languages, to put the whole thing back on linguistic tracks.
You must have noticed that English won against everybody by KO.

As regards your statement above,
I don't understand it,
I can hardly imagine the plot of destroying Germany (seems impossible)
and being allied with our most loved enemy (sounds odd).
