"Mittani" IA (a superstrate in the ANE) and "regular" IA (which, at
this stage of linguistic development, I prefer to call pre-R.gvedic
IA) split from *Proto-Indo-Aryan*, not directly from Proto-Indo-
Iranian!

They are both "Indo-Aryan", or "Indic", languages.
