Something similar is on p932-5 of Charles de Lamberterie's book on the
Greek -us adjectives, discussing presbus etc. Cf. his entry for eggus
in the Chronique d'Étymologie Grecque 3, 1998:
"-gWu-, degré zéro de *gWew- 'aller' ... on part d'une racine i.-e. à
triple forme *gWem-, *gWeh2-, *gWew-, parallèle à *drem-, *dreh2-,
*drew- 'courir'".
Apparently the idea goes back to Pisani. But of course, only Piotr
makes the brilliant connection with Gmc. *kwikwa- and PIE *gWeih3-!
By the way, did anyone come up with any good parallels for the
dissimilation of *gW...gW- to *gW...h3-?
