Well, this particular word must have been fairly late, at least after
the Irish learned to say /p/. Some, as of now unexeplained
deformation of caballus is probably most likely, but an unknown donor
is also possible.

I suppose if you have the horse with you
you have a word for it.

If you maintain that ca-pp-al is an impossible Celtic word,
then it's interesting to determine when capal became
a possible Irish word.
