Perhaps it has something to do with putting small fish in the ground with
the seed to fertilize and enrich the soil.

thank you very much for your responce.

The discussion was not in my mind about final Dagan/Dagon as
possible final by-product .
Dag :"fish" appeared after that proto-roots *DAG wich existed before.
You told something related (in my pespective) only to a final stage.
What is true,that "fish" was related to "god" in early cultures and
religions (Harappa...).
I am not satisfied at all with your responce. I expected a long-
range one,and with a wider perspective.
