Well, my point is retrospective: if you would tag a date to each new
accepted loan etymology you would see many of them published in the
ongoing decade or in the 90ies, rather than in earlier decades. It is
for example only less than 10 years since the issue of the borrowed
suffix of the numerals '8' and '9' was settled with a new
satisfactory sound substitution rule.
You could also count the difference between loan etymologies in the
newest etymological dictionary of Kaisa Häkkinen (2004) and her
previous one (1986 is the year i believe).
There is no reason why the trend would not continue.
