Kishore, on that occasion I had just ASKED the opinion of the
members of the indo-iranian List about O. Szemerenyi's proposal of a
Semitic etymology for Indo-Iranian term *arya. I was from the
beginning not inclined to accept such an implausible proposal. Not
that the few replies I got then satisfied my inquisitiveness; in any
event, the following one was the best:
