The Latin substrate word is supposedly the Illyrian
word for "beer"--it appears in a gloss and someone on
the list will remember who the writer is. It's said to
be related to Italian zabaglione
The problem is that the word may actually mean "foam,
froth" rather than "barley or some other beer-making
grain". And it does look like *sap- (vel sim), *sebh-
(vel sim) words for sap and soap

Zibziba, a reduplication, could it be a diminutive or
something like that with a root that referred to
another grain? Is there a *zib- form in Georgian? What
are the cognate forms in other Kartvelian languages?
Doesn't Starotin or someone have a Kartvelian
dictionary on-line?
