This Arabic word &_h_r is a verb

basically it means "to misbehave"

hence "to commit adultery".

It refers to *both* men or women,

not especially to women.

The semantic connection with "whore" is weak

misbehavior > adulterous > "loose" woman > whore

The phonetics is impossible.

The Arab words I know for whore et al. are sharmutah
"whore" but also "rag"; kalbah "bitch" and slikah
"bitch, etc." I'm guessing that sharmutah and slikah
are probably loanwords or innovations
