Rick, did he mean shufak or s.ufak?
 
I used capital S for esh because of the source I used for the data but perhaps I should have changed S to sh?

When I took Arabic many years ago I was told that Suf
was not Classical Arabic. I'd learned te expression
Sufak from Lebanese friends but the professor told me
that it was formal Arabic. So I wonder if it was
Aramaic or a coinage in later Arabic
