According to Ante AIkio (sp?) the Saami (i. e.
residents of Scandinavia) originally spoke another
language before the arrival of Uralic
I've seen conflicting ideas re Saami
1: it's a form of Balto-Finnish
2: it's a separate branch of Uralic
