It wouldn't, and I didn't mean to imply it would. *goNslI is not related
to *kantlom. At the very best, it just involves the same instrumental
suffix.

*kan- doesn't worry me, as "plain velar" colouring of this kind is found
in numerous comon roots (*kap-, bHag-, etc.)
