*wer-1 `to lift, raise, hold suspend'. 1. Alb vjerr `to hang up',
aor. vara from *wer-no. 2. Oldest form *H2wor-ia: yields Alb
avarí `(to hold) together, all together' with vocalization of
laryngeal *H2- > a-, like in *H2r.tk`o- `bear' (Alb arí `id.') *H2ri-
ti-a: > Alb arse `reason' etc.), cf. Greek aeirein `to raise'. 3. Alb
rris `to grow, breed, bring up' from *wr.t-yo of extended root *wert-
with regular *wr- > rr- and r.-> ri-. (Pokorny 1. wer- 1150.)

*wer-2 `high raised spot'. 1. Alb lyth (< lyrth) `wart' from
prefixed extended form *li- + *wort- > *liwort- through -iwo- > -y-
and reduction of cluster -rth- to -th-: Germanic *warto:n-, NE wart:
Lat verru:ca `wart': OCS vredu `harm, damage, injure`: NPers
balu: `wart`. (Pokorny 2. wer- 1151.)

*wer-3 `to turn, bend'.
I. Zero-grade form wr.- `to turn, wind'. 1. Alb rrisk/risk `destiny,
fate, lot; luck' from suffixed zero-grade form *wr.-sk- with regular
outcome of *-wr- > -rr-, where diminutive suffix -sk seems to be late
attached: OE wyrd `fate, destiny', NE weird. 2. Alb rri `to stay,
stand; to sit; dist down; to suit; fit on one's body': Latin
versari `to stay, behave'.
II. Root wret- `to turn'. 1. Alb noun rreth `circle, rim, circuit'
and adv rreth `around, circa' from *wret-o, t > th / V_V (see also d
> dh / V_V), pl. rrathë from suffixed o-grade form *wrot-aH2: OE
writha `band', NE wreath.
III. Root wergh- `to turn'. Alb rreng `tax, fraud, hoax, trick,
folic', rreng i rëndë 'hard tax' from nasalized variant *wrengh-o,
cf. Old English wryngan `to strangle', NE worry. 2. Alb varg `row,
string, line', pl. vargje from o-grade form *worg-o-; b. Alb
zvarg `to drag out, prolong`, a prefixed denominative of varg; c.
Jemi varg 'We are OK', literally 'We are in line'. 3. Alb
vargua/vargue `chain, shackle, fetter lock', pl vargonj, from *worg-
o:m, gen plural form of *worg-o-s. 4a. Alb vargan `cavalcade,
caravan, procession, convoy'; b. vargari 'alignment, line', both form
from suffixed form in -an and -ar, cf. Rus versta 'line', Balto-
Slavic *wirsta- 'a turn, band'.
IV. Root *werb- `to turn, bend, wind'. 1. Alb vorbë `jar, gerry' from
*we:r- + *bhw- `being turned'. 2. Alb vorbull `eddy, merry-go-round,
vortex, swirl, swirlpool', further suffixed form in -ulaH2. 3. Alb
rribë `wind force; full force of the wind; torrent, water fall' from
suffixed zero-grade form *wr.b-aH2.
V. Root werp- `to turn, wind'. 1. Alb rrip `strip of leather, strip'
