"Koti" is Sanskrit, used for 10E7 from at least the early
centuries CE, and still used in several languages of India (see
Wikipedia "Crore"). Aryabahata had names for all the powers of ten
(see http://www.quadibloc.com/math/bignum.htm 2nd section for a list)
that someone familiar with Indic languages might see etymologies for.
"Karode" appears to be the familiar "crore". I'm unclear as to
whether it is supposed to be etymologically related to "koti" or not.
Hobson-Jobson gives a number of variants as it sounded to the English
ear, mostly something like "karur". None have a D sound in the second
syllable --is "karode" possibly a typo?
