Are the Latin suffixes -arius (agentive) and -arium (instrumental)
borrowed from Greek -arios and -arion, or are the Greek forms borrowed
from Latin? Or are they independent evolutions?
Do similar suffixes pop up elsewhere in IE? What is/are the
etymology(s) of Greek/Latin -ario-/-ariu-? (Is there some kind of
rhotacism, with an earlier -asio- form?)
Cheers,
Carl
