I don't know what is true etymology, but I think Selija (Sëlija) can
be compared with Baltic tribe name Seliai (Sëliai), which was
mentioned by Herodotus as Sali. There are many versions about
origins of name Seliai (Sëliai). Some of them are: Lithuanian word
SIELIS, meaning RAFT; Lithuanian word SIELA, meaning SPIRIT, SOUL,
HEART; Lithuanian word SHELO (SHËLO), meaning WAS STORMING, WAS
RAVING. Pietro Umberto Dini compares this name with Thracian tribe
name Seleti. There is Lithuanian name Indre (Indrë), which, some are
suggesting, comes from Baltic word INDRE (INDRË), meaning REED,
CANE. Word NENDRE (NENDRË) in Lithuanian language means REED, CANE.
