By the way, the theory isn't mine, though I accept it. Most of the
credit goes to George Cardona, who analysed the relevant material in his
Yale dissertation of 1960 (_The Indo-European Thematc Aorist_). Cardona
still regarded *wid-é/ó- as the one secure case of a PIE thematic
aorist, but for reasons already discussed here even that is somewhat
uncertain.
