"At the beginning there was only Khaos (Air), Nyx (Night), dark Erebos (Darkness), and deep Tartaros (Hell's Pit). Ge (Earth), Aer (Air) [probably meaning Aither the upper air] and Ouranos (Heaven) had no existence. Firstly, black-winged Nyx (Night) laid a germless egg in the bosom of the infinite deeps of Erebos (Darkness), and from this, after the revolution of long ages, sprang the graceful Eros [Himeros the elder eros] with his glittering golden wings." - Aristophanes, The Birds 685

What's the etymology of Himeros??? Could be Him- < *Yem-, linking him to Yama, Ymir, etc. ???

What do you think about erotikos 'hidden love'. So, not publicly,
but separately.
It seems we all need much exercises on semantics.
Take, for example, semitic root hrm 'to ban, to forbid': haram 'evil
thing', mahram 'something forbidden', harem 'inviolable place,
ihram 'state of ritual purity of pilgrims to Mecca',
muharrem 'sacred month'.
