This is just an agent noun derived from *GanG-. The root may well be
some sort of "allofam" of *k^enk-, which does resemble *g^HengH- a lot.
Both look like onomatopoeic semi-reduplications and, if not technically
cognate, at least represent the same structural pattern. Cf. also Celtic
*keng-e/o- (?) 'go, tread'.
