Apart from the fact that no such Latinate derivatives seem to have been
used in Carolingian times and so have to be regarded as invented by
Ban'kowski, the date of the metathesis would have to be pushed forward
beyond AD 814! We once had a discussion on Cybalist of the the possible
evidence for an u-stem (all those derivatives with -ev-), but would the
formation of a stem in *-jU- have been possible at all in the 9th
century?? The only other example of a *-ju- stem noun in Slavic that
occurs to me is *dUzdjI (?) 'rain' _if_ the *dus-dju- etymology is correct.
