Well, in immediately post-war Yugoslavia just about anything could be
political. In addition the porject was financed with money earmarked
for the study of the areas that had been Italian before WWII but now
were Yugoslav. That nay well have provided enough of a political
background for it to be highly sensitive. But that is only a hunch.
