NOTE: This Dacian feature seems to be shared with Illyrian but not
with Thracian

kerh1- 'to cut'

NOTE: Romanian CarpaTi /Karpaci/ shows the regular *tia: > Rom Ti-
/ci-/

NOTE: The preservation of PIE a: in Dacian is confirmed also by the
output of PIE e: that is Dacian a:

NOTE: Long a: evolved to Romanian a and Albanian o


3. PIE eh3,oh,o: > Dacian o:

3.a Dacian *Akmo:nia 'Stony City' < PIE *h2ek'-mo:n-yo 'stony' /
h2ek'-mo:n- 'stone'
Preserved (not directly) in:
Albanian: kmesë 'sickle' < PAlb/Dacian? akmo:ntya: < PIE *h2ek'-mo:n-
tyeh2

Note: The Long o: passed to -e- (ve-) in Albanian (but the known
exception o:/n) and to short o in Romanian
