To follow up on the thread on Latin sacer "sacred", Swedish
säng "bed", Engl. sink etc which I can't locate in the archives since
Cybalist is tardy in indexing recent postings, I should mention:

Dutch zakken "fall, descend",
with the "side form"
Engl. sag

which confirms my suspicicion that ablauting, PPIE *a > PIE *e/o/zero
hadn't taken place in IE Nordwestblock (or was reversed, as in
Sanskrit?)
