Sincerely, I doubt. I think that Boréas seems to be a genitive form
of nouns in a-purum, probably with the meaning 'of the snow' and
really north wind is a signal of snow, but it is hard to say
something more. I much prefere simple explanation. Exists as well
Macedonian Bora.
