I didn't propose directly 'request' -> 'cause'

My derivation of the meaning based on *prk'-no:
-----------------------------------------------
PIE *prk'-no 'request, question, raised item' -> Balkan 'request,
question, raised item + problem, trouble, motive' -> Balkan Latin ->
OCS -> later generalization to 'cause, reason'

Your derivation of the meaning based on *kWei-no + preffix *pri
----------------------------------------------------------------
PIE *kWei- 'to arrange, to build' -> Late Common Slavic preffix
*pri 'at' + 'to arrange, to make' -> Slavic 'to cause, reason' ->
OCS -> Romanian 'problem, trouble, inquiry'

Two observations on my side:

a) Usually the original PIE meanings are very concrete ones and the
generalizations appeared later => this rule is respected in my
proposal but not respected in yours

b) Finally, I cannot see how we can arrived to Romanian
pricinĂ£ '(bad) cause, dispute, trouble, inquiry' from a PIE 'to
arrange' whatever loan path we could imagine...using or not the
preffix 'at'.
