If you doubt 'in principle' for sure your are not right: Romanian
represents the evolution of the Balkan Latin, so I doubt that a 'pan-
Slavic' impact of the Roman Empire and of the Balkan Latin was zero as
you have proposed here (even it's true that the Slavs arrived later
(sec VI CE) in that area the influence was for sure an important one)

Also the connections of the South-Slavic with the rest of the Slavic
world remains 'opened' after the Slavic split.
