Dear Cybalist Members,
I want to announce a temporary ban on postings concerning the AIT/OIT
debate. The thread will be terminated for the following reasons:
(1) No fresh ideas or arguments have been contributed recently, and thus
the thread qualifies as an infraction of the "dead-horse" prohibition
(see our rules of proper conduct). Anyone who goes to the trouble of
searching the Cybalist archive will find it all there, discussed and
re-discussed ad nauseam in the past.
(2) The topic generates a good deal of sound and fury but little of
significance from the point of view of Indo-European studies, and the
discussion easily strays off into entirely irrelevant issues, thus
violating the rule which prohibits off-topic posting (and often also the
one against flaming, trolling and ad hominem attacks).
The ban is effective as of now till Friday, 17 March, and I oblige all
the moderators to take immediate preventive steps should anyone attempt
to revive the locked topic within those two weeks. Those who want to
discuss my decision are asked not do so on Cybalist itself. You are
welcome to do so on our auxiliary list,
