I have been reading this list for some time. I find it quite
interesting, even the personalities who seem to occasionally enjoy ego
battles in the guise of serious linguistics. I post very little out
of respect for the list, since I have much more to learn than to
contribute. There must be many others like myself. The idea of
e-mail lectures sounds very interesting. We lurkers could certainly
use some fundamentals even though they may bore some of the more
serious contributors. Then again, judging by the amount of current
dissatisfaction, perhaps some of those fundamentals may not be such a
bad idea or as wasteful of server space as the current situation.
