I was trying to stay out of this discussion, but discover that Daniel and
David are being unfairly attacked, and perhaps the silent majority should
speak. I have no idea whether I'm part of the majority or not, but I wish
to support David and Daniel in their very moderate response to the often
absurd linguistic claims of Melkar and others.
Daniel's initial response was linguistic - nothing else. I think they are
both being attacked unfairly, and being accused of things they did not say.
I appreciate the chance to hear other points of view, even if I think they
are daft. At least it makes me marshal the evidence to support what I
myself believe, and check that I am justified in my belief. Unfortunately
in the Out of India debate, that checking happened many years ago, and all I
hear from Melkar and others is repeated assertions of things that are not
true, and repeated personal attacks on anyone who disagrees. This is not
good research, good science, or good debate.
